Jun 7, 2023 · And so, we arrive at the present decade – whilst COVID-19 forced the first ever cancellation of the festival in 2020, the following year saw the Download Pilot, a limited 10,000 capacity event designed to help open up live music. It was an unmitigated success, and the festival returned to full strength in 2022.
