If you're going to be working in Morwell, I would definitely recommend living in Traralgon. The travel is really not far, even at peak hour, I promise. It's a lot safer and better than Morwell. There's no situation that would see me live there. I work locally and end up in a lot of homes in the area.
I live in the valley (Morwell), work in Traralgon as Taxi Driver. Generally the town is good, as per any Victorian regional town there are the good people & then there's the bad people. Generally anywhere south of Shakespeare street near the schools are what's called "the bronx”.
