Santorini (Greek: Σαντορίνη, romanized: Santoríni, pronounced [sa(n)doˈrini]), officially Thira (Greek: Θήρα, romanized: Thíra, pronounced) and Classical Greek Thera (/ ˈ θ ɪər ə /), is an island in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km (120 mi) southeast from the Greek mainland.
Santorini has an airport with regular direct flights to Athens and international arrivals during the summer months. There are regular ferries to/from Piraeus and Rafina (eastern Attica) and many other Greek islands, including the Cyclades (Ios, Milos, Syros, Paros etc), Dodecanese (including Rhodes and Kos) and Crete.
