The 1973 Preakness Stakes. Secretariat captured the second leg of the Triple Crown on May 19, 1973 at the Pimlico Race Course in front of a then record setting crowd of 61,657 spectators. Breaking in last position, he made a huge move taking the lead at the 1st turn and never again was challenged beating Sham for a 2 ½ length victory.
