Eddie Cantor (born Isidore Itzkowitz; [1] [2] January 31, 1892 – October 10, 1964) was an American comedian, actor, dancer, singer, songwriter, film producer, screenwriter and author. [3] Cantor was one of the prominent entertainers of his era.

May 29, 2018 · CANTOR, EDDIE (1892–1964), U.S. comedian and vaudeville performer. Cantor was born Isidor Iskowitch on New York City's Lower East Side. In 1907 he won a music-hall amateur contest, and then began touring with a comedy blackface act.
When World War II broke out, Cantor supported and entertained our troops tirelessly. He travelled to Europe and actually helped get men, women and children on boats to safety. He got together with President Roosevelt and created The March of Dimes to help cure infantile paralysis.
