Massimo Vitali was born in Como, Italy, in 1944. He studied photography at the London College of Printing, in the 1970s initially working as a photojournalist, but at the beginning of the 1980s, a growing mistrust in the belief that photography had an absolute capacity to reproduce the subtleties of reality led to a change in his career path.

In 2020, Studio Massimo Vitali released a limited edition accordion book of 16 images made following Italy's spring lockdown, titled Leporello 2020: No Country for Old Men. Vitali's first solo exhibition with Edwynn Houk Gallery will be on view from 5 May - 15 July 2022.
Massimo Vitali Biography. Photographer Massimo Vitali was born in Como, Italy, in 1944. He moved to London after high school, where he studied Photography at the London College of Printing. In the early Sixties, Massimo Vitali started working as a photojournalist, collaborating with many magazines and agencies in Italy and in Europe.
