Yitzhak Rabin was an Israeli military Chief of Staff, ambassador to the United States, Minister of Labor and Prime Minister. Rabin was born in Jerusalem on March 1, 1922, during the British Mandate over Palestine. His father, Nehemiah, had immigrated to the area from the United States, and in World War I served as a volunteer in the Jewish Legion.
