Matthew 5:3-12. Verse 11. - But the meek shall inherit the earth. This prophecy is endorsed by our Lord (Matthew 5:5).It has only had occasional fulfilment hitherto, notably in Moses, the meekest man of his day (Numbers 12:3); to some extent in St. Louis and other great saints, whose influence has been world-wide, as St. Francis d'Assisi, St. Francis Xavier, St. Carlo Boromeo, and others.
