On Noelle Gordon, I doubt Lew Grade had any influence or involvement, particularly at that time -the sacking was done by the new management - and if you think a chairman of a PLC can make staffing decisions, you're either naive and very much mistaken.
The general pattern with ATV start-ups was that the tuning signal would air with the start-up music, and a station ident would be shown at the end. This (left) was ATV's first Tuning Signal, Tuning Signal 2. It was broadcast just before the start of each day's programmes, after ATV's launch in London in 1955.

Apr 24, 2020 · They didn't run Central - that was the point of the IBA's forcing the restructure of ATV, to dilute the Grade influence. I think the history of ITV probably demonstrates the ineptitude of the regulators rather than anything else - their "state / nanny knows best" attitude didn't actually result in better programmes or even a better service to the viewers and destroyed some perfectly good ...
