Raystown Lake History. Raystown Lake is a large man-made reservoir located in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. The present-day lake was created in the mid-20th century as part of a flood control project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. But before that, there was a small lake built by a local family, the Simpsons, to produce hydroelectric power.
Raystown Lake is the largest lake in PA entirely in the state; larger ones are shared in two or more states. The lake is a 29,000-acre project with an 8,000-acre lake, 12 public access areas, beach area, boat launches, picnic areas, campgrounds, small waterpark, marina concession stands, trails, hunting, and incredible fishing opportunities.

Susquehannock. Susquehannock Campground is located on the 8,300-acre Raystown Lake, in the ridge and valley province of Pennsylvania. The lake offers ample outdoor recreation opportunities, from fishing and boating to picnicking and hiking.
