Boris Godunov (Russian: Борис Годунов, romanized:Borís Godunóvlisten ⓘ) is an opera by Modest Mussorgsky (1839–1881). The work was composed between 1868 and 1873 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is Mussorgsky's only completed opera and is considered his masterpiece.

For the first time since 1913, Boris Godunov was given a fully new, handsomely realistic production. It was also the first time the Met performed the opera in its original Russian, adding greatly to the authenticity of the performance.
