The church was completed in 1886 at a cost of $25,000. When parishioners started to use (1883) the basement of the new church, the church on Federal and Franklin Streets because the first St. John’s School. And when the new church was completed, the basement then became the home of St. John’s School, and the old Methodist Church was sold.
