Based on the behaviour of Mirror Universe occupants, particularly Kirk and Archer, I believe their brains are actually wired differently. Think of Mirror Archer's speech to his crew on the hanger deck. Or Mirror Kirk's address to Spock while he's in the brig. This seems like far more than a cultural difference.
