A modified version of the Arabic script was introduced in 1924 but was given up in 1928 in favor of the unified Roman-based alphabet. A modified Cyrillic-based script was introduced in 1940. In the post-Soviet era, a new Roman-based alphabet was created, but it has not yet replaced the Cyrillic-based script.

The buyer should beware that this book will not teach a novice to the Arabic language, the Arabic script in its many variations. The book also transliterates many of the Arabic Scripts when referencing the art (or non-standard Arabic script).
