The criticism directed toward Geoff Johns isn't sudden. When you've seen the span of someone's career and they keep going back to the wells of gore and continuity wank, it gets tough to enjoy their work. People are always hyperbolic in their criticism of art, but he really is a terribly mediocre writer.
