The author is black and despite its length the thing is extremely light when it comes to some of the racial aspects of the show (and Jerrod himself, who talked about the importance of black families in his Emmy-winning special). I completely disagree with her take on the finale episode.
That way i think the message that Jerrod was trying to convey would have come across clearer. Instead it just made myself and others who are fans of his sweat and get nervous for him. He came across badly in those first episodes and I half apologise for jumping to a conclusion about his overall character.
