  2. Edward was born at Westminster Abbey in London, England, in November 1470. He was the elder son of Edward IV and his queen, Elizabeth Woodville. At the time of his birth his father, momentarily deposed, was in exile in Holland. In June 1471, after Edward IV had crushed his foes and reclaimed his crown, young Edward was made prince of Wales.
