The events of The Lion King from Timon's and Pumbaa's points of view. The story of how they met and how they became best friends while having difficulties and obstacles in their lives. They rely on each other to get through the toughest of times.
When Timon leaves his colony because he doesn't fit in, he meets the lonely Pumbaa. Together Timon and Pumbaa search for a new home, having adventures along the way and eventually meeting up with lion prince Simba (Matthew Broderick), who is in exile from his home and must challenge the evil Scar for the title of Lion King.
Es ist ein wenig verwirrend, dass der Film hierzulande unter dem Namen "Der König der Löwen 3 - Hakuna Matata" publiziert wurde. Der Titel suggeriert den Zuschauern, dass es sich um eine Fortsetzung zu "Der König der Löwen" handelt. In Amerika ging der Film als "The Lion King 1 1/2" an den Start, was dem Inhalt wesentlich besser entspricht.
