Yes, similar in the terms that (for me at least) they were both impossible to put down. The faction system in Divergent is also quite similar to Hogwarts houses. Keep in mind, though, that Divergent is dystopian while Harry Potter is fantasy, so they're not the same in that regard. 1. Reply.
niesle. •. It doesn't make any sense to buy any of the movies or worth watching them because the movies end on a "soft" cliffhanger. If you want to watch the movies, watch Divergent and Insurgent. It's the third movie I wouldn't bother watching because it doesn't appear that it will ever be produced.
Divergent is middling YA, not the worst I've read but not particularly good. [I'm not disparaging YA at all, I read a lot of it.] It's not really anything like The Hunger Games. Their only comparison to the HG is that they are a YA post apocalyptic dystopian with a female lead that is written in the first person.
