The Court-Martial: Part 1 is the seventeenth episode of the first season of Matlock. A sadistic Army lieutenant pushes his men too hard. After a late-night poker game inside a back room of the officers' club, someone stabs him in the back with a bayonet, and he dies.
As the case progresses, Ben discovers that the lieutenant and four other officers may have been involved in some kind of illegal activities. Charlene who has been working undercover and gets close to one of those officers, examines him on the stand and he reveals that they have been smuggling drugs.
