Torque is a kind of twisting force. The two quantities are related by the equation Tau = Iota * Alpha. Tau is the variable for torque, Iota is the variable for Moment of Inertia, and Alpha is the variable for rotational acceleration. This is the rotational equivalent of Newton's Law F = m*a in the linear frame.
