Nov 12, 2023 · They lived in St. John the Evangelist Parish near St Mary’s Academy where Teresa attended school with her sister, Josephine. Strong family ties were a hallmark of her life. After graduating from St. Mary’s, Teresa attended El Camino College for one year before entering the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1964.

During the French Revolution, the sisters were forced to return to their homes and the community was dispersed. Some 28 years after the refounding, six Sisters of St. Joseph came to the United States in 1836 and established American roots at Carondelet, a small community in south St. Louis, Missouri.
The motherhouse was built over a period of 60 years, from 1840 to 1899. Each new wing was built to serve the needs of the community as the sisters’ ministries grew. St. Joseph’s Academy was founded in 1840 to meet the overwhelming need for education in America. The academy was the first wing of what was to become a 7-wing building.
Carondelet High School is an all-girls private Catholic high school in Concord, California, United States. Carondelet High School was founded in 1965 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph. The school enrolls about 800 students. It shares some resources with the all-boys De La Salle High School, which is across a side-street that separates them.
