Gunsmoke is an American radio and television Western drama series created by director Norman MacDonnell and writer John Meston. The stories take place in and around Dodge City, Kansas, during the settlement of the American West. The central character is lawman Marshal Matt Dillon, played by William Conrad on radio and James Arness on television.
Gunsmoke ran for 20 seasons for a reason. It's the best western TV series ever made. We grew up watching Matt, Kitty, Doc, Chester and Festus tend to affairs in Dodge City, and it's a trip through memory lane re-watching these episodes from 1955-1975. If you are or were a Gunsmoke fan, you can't go wrong with the entire set.
