Jul 19, 2023 · The cable car also passes through the historical Hunger Wall, built by one of the most important kings of Bohemia Charles IV between 1360-1362. It’s named ‘Hunger’ because it provided employment for the poor people of Prague who would otherwise go hungry. The wall was part of the medieval fortifications of the city.
Feb 2023. The Hunger was built in the 1360's and was originally called the bread wall as it was built to provide a livelihood and food to the struggling citizens who worked on it. It was also built as a defensive wall but predominantly to employ people at the time. It is a great example of medieval defensive structures.
