The Saar-CSU was the Rest of the former CVP of the Saarland. It should be mentioned, that 1957 was the first federal election in the Saarland, after the "little" reunification with (West)Germany. The CVP was against this unification and for an independant Saar. The CSU in Saarland merged with the CDU later.
