He left the show in late 2020, making him the longest-serving cast member in the series' history. Davidson admitted he was "done" because the show treated him like a "day player" even after portraying Paul for 43 years.

  7. Douglas George Davison, 95, widower of Barbara A. (Allen) Davison, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Benton House in Aiken following an extended illness. Doug was a native of the South Jersey shore in Avalon, N.J. and Key Colony Beach, Florida. Doug grew up in Springfield Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
