Robert Nicholas Burns (born January 28, 1956) is an American diplomat and academic who has served as the United States ambassador to China since 2022. Burns has had a 25-year career in the State Department and has served as under secretary of state for political affairs.
Nicholas Burns is Ambassador of the United States of America to the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Nominated by President Biden, he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in December 2021.
