Jun 12, 2007 · The first time Cassie Patten raced in an open water event in the sea she got lost, suffered terrible seasickness and had layers of skin peel off her tongue afterwards because of the saltwater. The next time she took part in a big race in the sea, it was cold, it rained and she got badly stung by jellyfish.
Cassie Patten is a British swimmer and coach who won the bronze in the 10 km open water event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is also a huge advocate of the Henley Swim Festival, and she kindly gave up some of her time to give us the lowdown on her swimming life.
