My Dinner with Andre: Directed by Louis Malle. With Andre Gregory, Wallace Shawn, Jean Lenauer, Roy Butler. Two old friends meet for dinner; as one tells anecdotes detailing his experiences, the other notices their differing worldviews.
I mean sitting down and having an actual conversation, filled with meaningful dialogue, heart wrenching regrets, near-death experiences, and spirited philosophical debates. While watching My Dinner with Andre, sometimes I checked out from whatever they were talking about and let my mind wander to things relevant to my own life.
The episode is called "My Dinner with Abed," and it's one of my favorites. Happy cake day mate! This is one of my favorite movies. There's a moment towards the end when Wally summons up the nerve to contest Andre. For me it's the climax of the film and I remember appreciating it a lot the first time I saw it.
