A Spider-Verse tie-in mini-series, called Scarlet Spiders was released featuring Kaine Parker and Ultimate Jessica Drew alongside an alternate version of Ben Reilly that survived. In the story Dead No More: The Clone Conspiracy it was revealed that Ben Reilly was again cloned by the Jackal in an attempt to improve his cloning technology.

He became a lightning rod for controversy during the infamous Clone Saga storyline of the mid 1990s.

After helping to stop Spider-Island, Kaine has been cured of his clonal degeneration. While fleeing to Mexico he stops in Houston to steal money from criminals, but ends up becoming the superhero, Scarlet Spider.
