C. J. Hamilton formed the Hamilton Rifle Co. in 1897 after selling his interest in the Daisy Manufacturing Co. Hamilton is best known for designing the first Daisy airgun in 1888. The .22 caliber boy's rifles were manufactured using either cast or stamped steel parts and mostly slab-wood stocks and retailed for as little as $1.60.

One of the first mass-produced American-made air rifles was the "Chicago", a wood-and-steel gun that was manufactured by the Markham Air Rifle Co. of Plymouth. Introduced in 1885, it set the trend toward training guns which could be mass produced and sold at low prices. Plymouth resident Clarence Hamilton worked as a watch and clock repairman.

This one is a Model 51 bolt action 22 s,l, lr, w/20" bbl,produced between 1935 and '41. Took it out back and shot a few shorts through it and it works fine.
