Having previously worked at WABC (AM) and WPLJ in New York City, Salem received a voice mail from Jimmy Fink, then the morning personality at WXRK informing him of his new position. Forgot his name, sorry. AJ Benza’s debacle was unforgettable. And Jackie! His slow motion exits were such fertile ground. But now show heavyweights (yes, pardon the pun) like Scott Salem, Gange, Brent, the whole news department leave with not a mention. Even if the departure was hostile, in the old days Stern would’ve talked about it.

If he would have stayed, he would have eventually been laid off with the rest of the HowardTV staff, most likely. This was a great move for him at the time.
Like Robin Radzinski or Scott Einziger. HowardTV should have been better than the E channel shows, turns out, the E shows were the better ones, because Goodstien and Depace sucked. There's a reason those two arent working in showbiz anymore, there are a million guys who can do what they could.
