The waterfall is a series of five tiers with a total drop height of 35 feet. The water bounces off each tier giving quite the rush of cascading waters. One unique feature about Helen Hunt Falls is just how accessible it is. From Highway 24 it’s a quick drive by car or bus to a wide open parking area at the trailhead.
Thirty five foot waterfall and lots of stairs, but it was worth the 2 hours we spent there. Another 200 feet and getting to the top of the Silver Cascade Falls and seeing no people was well worth the climb! Helen Hunt Falls is located on the Cheyenne Creek in the North Cheyenne Canon Park and it is named for Helen Maria Hunt Jackson (1830-1885). She was a poet, writer and activist on behalf of Native Americans. The falls are rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of many people who have lost their lives here.
