Jan 1, 2001 · November 15, 2012. Thomas Rockwell’s How to Eat Fried Worms is about a group of young boys who have made a bet. The book is about Bill and his two friends Alan and Joe. Billy is a normal kid with no money who wants a new motorbike and to earn the money for it his two friends bet $50 that he can’t eat 15 worms in 15 days.
At first Billy’s problem is whether or not he can swallow the worm placed before him, even with a choice of condiments from peanut butter to horseradish. But later it looks as if Billy will win, and the challenge becomes getting to the worm to eat it. Billy’s family, after checking with the doctor, takes everything in stride.

Jan 1, 2014 · The book and the movie are a little different, but both are fun. As a teacher, I liked the book best, of course the students liked the movie best. You can find a lot of activities via the internet to help you plan a unit around this book. This was a fun unit to end the school year with in our reading class. We even made and ate fried worms.
