Amidst all of the formal engagements and diplomatic exchanges, this was also a meaningful experience in that I was together, with nine other Japanese American leaders, in a space to connect with one another, with others in Japan, and with our shared cultural heritage.
Our work resulted in the recruitment of Naomi Ostwald Kawamura to the role. Ostwald Kawamura joins Densho in September 2022 from Nikkei Place Foundation, a Japanese Canadian community-based organization in British Columbia, Canada, where she served as Executive Director.
