The acting is obnoxious. The main character is supposed to be some smart badass but in actuality she's the dumbest most frustratingly stupid character I've seen on a show in a long time. I wanted to scream at her for being such a dumbass. This show feels like hallmark tried to make a mystery drama thriller and failed.

The story opens with a funeral. Joe Burkett, Maya’s husband, was murdered right in front of her. That memory, like so many other memories, haunts her nightly. Returning home from the funeral a single parent, Maya stays strong for her two-year-old daughter. A friend of hers offers a gift out of concern, which Maya is at first reluctant to accept.

Dec 29, 2023 · She was a pretty tough and erratic person, an impulsive pantser with a lot of issues. I found her a cold and unsympathetic narrator in the book, but I thought Michelle Keegan humanized her a little. Still, it’s a strange ending. Surprising, but not in a good way.
