The Ohio Statehouse is the state capitol building and seat of government for the U.S. state of Ohio. The Greek Revival building is located on Capitol Square in Downtown Columbus. The capitol houses the Ohio General Assembly, consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Please note that while the Ohio Statehouse is open to the public on the weekends, the House and Senate Chambers are kept locked, and are only available to be viewed during guided tours. Tours depart from the Map Room easily accessible from the Third Street entrance.
The Ohio Statehouse, completed in 1861, is a National Historic Landmark and one of the nation’s outstanding examples of Greek Revival architecture. One of the oldest working statehouses in the country, Ohio’s capitol welcomes visitors every day of the year, except state holidays.
It was completed in 1861.The Statehouse has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior. This honor recognizes the long history of the building and the continued role it will have in the life and lawmaking of the state of Ohio.

House Chamber. The House Chamber is approximately the same size as the Senate Chamber and accommodates Ohio's 99 elected state representatives. The Chamber was largely designed by Nathan B. Kelley, one of the original Statehouse architects.
Museum Education Center. Ohio Statehouse Museum Education Center offers exhibits that encourage visitors to participate in the state government process by making decisions, expressing their opinions, comparing viewpoints and by voting.
