S3.E3 ∙ The Thoroughbred. John Boy and his mule aim to get the Walton family name on a local race's trophy for the first time since Grandpa won the race years ago. It seems to be a sure victory until a well-to-do college mate and his thoroughbred racehorse enter.
In Season Three, John-Boy heads off to college - and life will never be the same. Change has come to Walton's Mountain. But one thing will never change: the powerful family bond that keeps the Waltons forever together.

Miss Minnie Doze, the Beardsley’s maid for 20 years overhears John-Boy while he is buying supplies for Mason at Ike’s store. She is surprised that no one contacted her to help the family settle back in. She goes to see Mason but notices that something isn't quite right with him.
