Regarding machete - size is usually dependent on what you will cut. If you have to clear out large sections of green growth (jungle) longer is better. If you just occasionally chop down something a bit thicker, get shorter. No knife is meant to be directly used as a striker. You are probably misunderstanding what that pair of knives is for. Vote.
