It doesn't work. I took both pedals apart to see if there was anything obvious wrong with it (the new pedal was from eBay). Alesis support told me it was "not compatible" and that they recommend using the components that came with the kit, which isn't very helpful. On other reddit posts I read something about "piezo" vs "switch" type pedals.
I am strongly considering to record my drums as audio instead of MIDI at this point. When you start Reaper, add a track and arm it to record. Also select the correct MIDI input in that track. To fix the glitchy sound, you have to adjust the ASIO settings. Downloading and installing Asio4All makes this easy.

3 days ago · The CD drive in my Masterlink is starting to malfunction, playback becomes intermittent (stuttery) usually about 4 or 5 tracks into a CD. I was wondering if the drives in these things are the standard drives from a desktop PC, and if so whether or not a non-tech like myself would be able to replace it (I have replaced the internal HD in past).
