Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish synagogue located at 3901 Shoal Creek Boulevard in Austin, Texas, in the United States. Organized in 1876 and chartered by the state of Texas in 1879, it is the oldest synagogue in Austin.
With their engaging sermons and stimulating teachings, our Rabbis show us how the lessons from the past are relevant to our lives today. At Congregation Beth Israel, we understand that there are a variety of ways to express our Judaism through prayer.

Additionally, Rabbi Levy participates in many interfaith and Jewish community groups in Austin, including being an Austin city leader for the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network. A native of San Antonio (although she was born at Seton Hospital across the street), Rabbi Levy loves being a part of Congregation Beth Israel.
In 1925, the Congregation adopted the practice of standing during the recitation of the Mourners Kaddish. In 1948, the Congregation celebrated its second Bar Mitzvah, for Melvin Lebo, changing the tradition of Reform Jewish practice of discouraging Bar Mitzvah at Congregation Beth Israel.
