For seventy-two years Museum School has introduced children to the wonders of the world around them. Founded in 1949, the program was first called the “Frisky and Blossom Club.” Today, Museum School continues to be a national model for informal science education.

Dr. Faden succeeds Orlando Carvalho, who has served as the Museum’s Interim President since April 2022.

With the help of the city’s school board, the museum opened in early 1945 in two rooms in De Zavala Elementary School. In 1947 the museum moved into the large R.E. Harding House at 1306 Summit, where it kept growing in size and popularity.
Jun 24, 2021 · The museum is set to pilot the charter school in the fall, with officials hoping to gain the State Board of Education’s approval for public funding the following school year. The goal is to reduce barriers in learning and open students to possibilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
