James Kenneth McManus (September 24, 1921 – June 7, 2008), better known professionally as Jim McKay, was an American television sports journalist. McKay was best known for hosting ABC's Wide World of Sports (1961–1998).
Born James McManus, the steady-voiced McKay was the first on-camera personality for Baltimore’s first TV station. The station’s producer, director, writer, and news and sports reporter, he was well-equipped to be a pioneer. McKay began work at ABC Sports in the 1950s, covering everything from international golf to horse racing.
