    • Be aware, be curious. First, bring mindful awareness to your behavior to observe what is happening in each unfolding moment, in order to interrupt an automatic behavior.
    • Be intentional. Create hard stops. Once you identify what isn’t working for you, see where you might need to create a “hard stop” for disengaging from unhelpful behaviors.
    • Flip it. Work with your reward system. Instead of seeing this hard stop as taking away something, see it as adding something. Remind yourself of why you are doing this, focus on the reward of this hard stop, and identify what you want to move toward (rather than focusing on what you have to move away from).
    • Rehearse. Strengthen the reward. Visualize in your mind the outcome that you want, and take a moment to feel any positive emotions of this in your body.
