Exposed to heavy doses of gamma radiation, scientist Bruce Banner transforms into the mean, green rage machine called the Hulk.
Hulk's origin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a combination of the Ultimate comics version, where his transformation was the result of an attempt to recreate the Super Soldier Serum and 1970s television version, who was overexposed to gamma radiation on a Gamma Ray Projector.
The first (and most famous) person to use the Hulk moniker was Bruce Banner, a scientist who was exposed to extreme amounts of gamma radiation that altered his DNA structure and caused him to become a giant monster of incredible power whenever he gets angry.
