The Monongahela River (/ m ə ˌ n ɒ ŋ ɡ ə ˈ h iː l ə / mə-NONG-gə-HEE-lə, /-ˈ h eɪ-/- HAY-), sometimes referred to locally as the Mon (/ m ɒ n /), is a 130-mile-long (210 km) river on the Allegheny Plateau in north-central West Virginia and Southwestern Pennsylvania.
