The Night Land is a horror/fantasy novel by English writer William Hope Hodgson, first published in 1912. As a work of fantasy it belongs to the Dying Earth subgenre. Hodgson also published a much shorter version of the novel, entitled The Dream of X (1912).

The Night Lands is the name given to the land of the dead in the Dothraki belief system. For a Dothraki soul to enter the Night Lands to ride with his or her ancestors, the body must be burned in a funeral pyre. It is a major insult to the dead to leave his or her body unburned.
