After releasing her third studio album, Father Christmas, on Rounder Records in November 2001, and a divorce from husband Chris DiCroce, she relocated to Los Angeles. In 2002, Carter signed with Arista Nashville and released her first single in three years.
The public didn't buy it in large enough quantities and Deana disappeared -- until the release of Father Christmas. Without a record label at the time, Deana recorded this seasonal album with her father in his own studio. He played guitar while Deana sang -- no outside musicians were called upon.
