The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University is a private music and dance conservatory and preparatory school in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1857 and affiliated with Johns Hopkins in 1977, Peabody is the oldest conservatory in the United States and one of the world's most highly-regarded performing arts schools.
From its beginnings as the first conservatory in the United States—founded alongside an art gallery, a library, and a lecture series—the Peabody Institute has brought together a community of artists, teachers, and scholars to hone their skills, with a keen understanding of what the arts can do to elevate the quality of human life.

Mar 1, 2024 · Christine Covino-Spinale, 71, of Lynnfield, formerly of Peabody and Everett, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Chris was born in Chelsea on November 10, 1952 and was the cherished daughter of the late Saverio and Mary (Cecere) Covino.
