The title and premise recall those of Herbert West–Reanimator. The regenerative blue potion seeps into the grave of a man implied to have been a violent criminal, resulting in a fearsome zombie. This recalls Frankenstein (1931), in which the reanimated Creature is given the brain of a murderer.

In “Tale of the Reanimator”, Julie’s boss, who’s a widower botanist (if memory recalls) develops a serum/elixir that is able to extend plant life. Later on, the serum is taken, poured at a random grave and then a zombie pops out. What’s interesting is that the zombie is not after brains, but is after the elixir.
